Our Mission

Our mission is to build inclusive communities where everyone has a sense of belonging and a place in society. Our focus is to provide people-led safe places and spaces in Staffordshire, where vulnerable adults and children can connect, inspire, and thrive.

Meet our Trustees

Dale nixon

Chair

Dale is a Registered Learning Disability Nurse, qualifying in 2004. Dale started working with people with a learning disability in 1995, as a support worker before commencing his nurse training. Dale has had various roles in clinical practice including working as an acute liaison nurse. Dale currently works at the School of Nursing and Midwifery at Keele University as a Lecturer in Learning Disability Nursing. Dale is passionate about individuals with a learning disability, especially in relation to health inequalities. In addition, Dale raises awareness and understanding of people with a learning disability across the programmes he teaches on, which include both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Alice cosgrove

Alice first became involved with Project Indi when her son began attending our community day sessions. Alice was a vice chair of the children’s board in the West Midlands for 12 years and joined a local charity in a paid role in 2009. Alice was the Advice Services Manager for several years until she became Chief Executive Officer. During this time, she represented many clients at disability tribunals and the organisations held various contracts with the local authority for Information, Advice, Guidance and Advocacy.

Samantha litherland

Sam has worked with a range of Commercial and multi-disciplined, multi-sited teams across the financial services and employee benefits sectors. Throughout her career, she has specialised in Marketing, E-commerce and relationship management and is very much looking forward to raising the charity’s profile to support its growth and sustainability. Sam has an honours degree in Law from Staffordshire University and is passionate about values, people and wellbeing.

John gleave

fundraising trustee

John takes the lead on community fundraising. He focuses on creating partnership packages with local businesses, so we can work together to transform the lives of vulnerable adults and children in our local community. John has recently retired from his role as Sales Director for a national company and gives his time to the charity to complete handyman and renovation work, gain local community and business support, and he is a strong advocate of the charity and our work.

Sarah has worked for the city council for 18 years and most of this time has been spent in community engagement or development work. Sarah has worked citywide with many residents, partner agencies and voluntary groups and has developed a wealth of experience of engagement with many diverse groups. Sarah has experience in both finance and governance and considerable links with organisations citywide.
